The Badger Boy’s Soccer team evened their season record at 3–3 with a 3–1 victory over Lakeland Tuesday evening at home.

It was the boy’s third consecutive win.

Junior midfielder and co-captain Alex Mendez opened the scoring in the third minute, converting a long throw-in from senior defender Carey Reynolds on the left side and cranking a 20-yard blast into the lower right corner to give the Badgers a quick  1–0 lead.

The Hawks evened the score one minute before halftime with a penalty kick.

In the second half, sophomore forward Andre Zarate took a long pass from Mendez and got it past the Lakeland goalie, giving Bonners a 2–1 lead in the 55th minute.

Sophomore forward Daniel Palacios iced the game with a goal in the 74th minute, converting a nice through pass from Zarate to complete the scoring.

Bonners Ferry outshot Lakeland 11–5.

Defenders Trevor Hampton, a junior, and Ken Pew, a sophomore, had their best games so far this season, said coach Ed Moe.

The Badgers, who are 1-0 in the Intermountain League, continue league play at 1 p.m. today, Sept. 10, at Priest River and host St. Maries at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.
