Candidate for governor to visit Bonners Ferry

| September 10, 2009 9:00 PM

Rex Rammell, a 2010 Republican candidate for governor of Idaho, will speak at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the American Legion in Bonners Ferry.

Bonners Ferry Chapter of Idaho for Wildlife is sponsoring the event.

Rammell believes the Canadian wolves need to be removed from Idaho.

“The wolves continue to slaughter Idaho’s big game herds, kill and maim livestock and pets, and are dangerous to Idahoans,” he said. “If Idaho's mountains are to be safe for people and if our big game herds are to be the envy of the world, the wolves can not stay.”

The event will have a town hall format, and questions from the audience will be taken after Rammell’s presentation.

Rammell, who last year made an unsuccessful bid for the U.S. Senate as an Independent, wrote “A Nation Divided: The War for America’s Soul.” He is expected to run against Gov. Butch Otter, although Otter hasn’t formally announced.
