Janet Lynne France Baker, 68
Janet Lynne France Baker, 68, went to meet Our Lord on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, after a long struggle with Sezary Syndrome CTCL.
Private inurnment and a memorial service may be held at a later date.
Janet was born in Spokane, Wash., on April 28, 1941, to Walter and Elizabeth France.
She attended school in Newport, Wash.; Troy, Mont.; and Bonners Ferry. She graduated from high school in Hamilton, Mont.
While in Bonners Ferry she met the love of her life, Burton Baker. They became engaged before the family moved to Hamilton and on June 7, 1959, they were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry.
As long as she was able, Janet enjoyed many outdoor activities including biking, hiking, hunting, snowshoeing, motorcycling, huckleberry picking, and even backpacked into the Grand Canyon one February.
She cooked at Cone's Cafe, Boundary Community Hospital, Senior Center Hospitality Center and Three Mile Cafe, and finished her career cooking at Rocky Mountain Academy, where she was employed for 18 years.
Janet loved to cook and bake, and the Rocky Mountain Academy students would beg to work in the kitchen with her. If they weren't in trouble, they could be rewarded with some cookies, but they loved to work with her even if there were no cookies.
On June 7, 2009, Janet and Burton celebrated their 50th anniversary quietly at home watching some of her favorite movies.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Donna and Diane.
Janet is survived by her loving husband; son Bryon; daughter Stephanie (Henry) Smith; grandchildren, Dorian, Marina and Jordan Smith; sisters Mary Ann, Shirley, Nina (Ted), Kathy (Mike) and Vicki; brothers Ron (Dorothy), David (Susan) and Stephen; Aunt Velda; and numerous nieces and nephews.
