Trucker cited for crash that killed Moyie couple
A trucker has been blamed for causing a crash from nearly one year ago that killed a Moyie Springs couple and critically injured their daughter, according to Washington State Patrol
The trucker, who police did not identify, was cited for negligent driving from the Oct. 3 crash that killed Karl Heiss and his wife, Marisa Bauducco-Heiss on Interstate 5 near Grand Mound. Their daughter, Aliana, 12, was critically injured while their son Alden, 7, was treated and released.
The trucker cut off the vehicle driven by Marisa Bauducco-Heiss, police said. The Subaru went under a cable barrier and into opposing traffic. Their vehicle snapped the lower cable.
Washington Department of Transportation officials said the cable barriers successfully stop 95 percent of vehicles from crossing highway medians.
