Fielding a team of only four players, Badger golf coach Chad Deitz wasn’t disappointed that the Badgers didn’t get a win in their season opener, falling to Kellogg 172-179 in a nine-hole match at Mirror Lake March 23.
“Overall, I was happy with the team score,” Deitz said, “due to the early start to the season and only having four players to score.”
The match medalist was Badger Carey Reynolds, who led all scorers at 37. Aaron Moe came in with 43 strokes and Chase Mellon, in his first varsity start, hit 51. Freshman Evan Moe, competing in his first match ever, finished with 48 strokes.
“Normally, we have five players and use the four best scores,” Deitz said, “but Derrick Alt was unable to play that day.”
