Why do local commissioners have beef with militias?

| April 22, 2010 9:00 PM

Since election day is only a little more than a month away I thought it might be in order to review a couple of pertinent points with regards to the constitution and the oath of office of elected officials.

They promise to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States before taking office.  This being said the question should be asked why our commissioners took such a firm stand against the second amendment which reads as follows…

“A well regulated militia being necessary to the security if a free state the right id the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

The reasoning for the militia was to keep from having a standing army which a power hungry president could use against its own people or to send to some far off land to do the work of special interests such as “protecting” the oil fields in Iraq.

It should be noted that young men entering the military have been asked if they would fire on American citizens if ordered to do so. The militia that is young men between the ages of 18 and 45 ordinary citizens probably wouldn’t give the appropriate answer to such a  question.

The right to keep and bear arms then is incorporated in the same clause as a citizen militia, the question then that comes to mind is how can our commissioners be opposed to a militia without being opposed to the right of the citizens to keep and bear arms?

Our commissioners are all nice guys but they have demonstrated that they can’t be trusted to protect and defend our most basic rights which are the rights to own control and protect and defend our property and the right to keep and near arms to defend our property and our country in a time of need.

Isn’t it time to replace our “nice  guys” with the nice people who understand our Constitution and will act accordingly?
