Dolores (Dee) Tugby

Dolores passed away April 20, 2010, in Edmonds, Wash.

She was born on July 18, 1935, in Spokane, Wash., to Dr Frederick and Nelda Durose.  She lived in Bonners Ferry, ID for many years.  She was honored Queen of Jobs Daughters and received her majority pin.  Dee was active in school activities including the band, newspaper, Badgerettes and graduated from Bonners Ferry High School in 1953.

Dee attended Washington State University where she met her husband Morrie Tugby.  They got married on Sept. 11, 1954.  Later that month they drove to Fort Monmouth, NJ and a few months later to Fort Lewis where he served as a 1st lieutenant.  After two year of military life, they moved to the greater Seattle area and later to Edmonds.  Dee became a water safety instructor helping many children and adults learn to swim.  Dee wanted to pursue her education and she graduated from Edmonds Community College with a degree in Special Education and Early Childhood Education.  Dee went on to work with Special Needs students for 15 years in the Edmonds School District.  She was a choir member and organist at St. George’s and St. Alban‘s Episcopal Church and served on the vestry.

Some of her other activities included President of her PEO Chapter EJ, assisted Morrie with Rotary (she is a recipient of Paul Harris recognition), and was an active participant in Jazzercise. Dee loved to travel, go on walks, church activities, entertaining, playing a piano or organ and singing in the church choir. 

Dee was very close to all of her family; husband Morrie, son Brent, daughter Kristin (Boag), granddaughters Andrea Boag, Sara & Mike Baydo (Sara’s husband) and great grandchildren Madisen and Ethan.  She was preceded in death by her parents Dr Frederick & Nelda Durose and her sister Marilyn Durose.

She will be missed and was loved by many. A memorial service will be held at St. Alban‘s Episcopal Church 21405 82nd Pl. W, Edmonds, WA, Friday, April 30th at 2:00 pm.
