Middle school preregistration dates set
Preregistration for students in grades six through eight who will be attending Boundary County Middle School will be Monday, Aug. 30, and Wednesday, Sept. 1, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
New students or students who didn't register last spring can sign up for classes, and those students who did register last spring can, along with their parents, pick up their class schedules, pay their fees, get their locker assignments and check out the school.
By doing the pre-registration before the first day of school, which is Tuesday, Sept. 7, school administrators can begin the school year with an active learning day.
Sixth grade transition day at the middle school will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 2, and parents and incoming sixth graders are encouraged to take part.
Bus transportation will be provided, with pickups at Mt. Hall, Evergreen and Naples Elementary Schools. Students and their parents will have the opportunity to meet their teachers, tour the school and get to experience the daily middle school routine.
Also on Thursday, Sept. 2, will be “Back to School Night” for all middle school students and their parents from 5 to 7:30 p.m. This event will allow teachers to meet the parents and their students and discuss their classes, expectations and general requirements, answering many of the questions parents may have before the school year starts.
Middle school sports, including football, cheerleading, volleyball and cross-country are set to begin Sept. 9, and those students wishing to participate need to have their current physical exam prior to the start date, and must also take care of their insurance and complete the school's forms.
