Boundary County students return to school on Sept. 7

Back to school events at Bonners Ferry High School will start next week.

On Monday, Aug. 23, the office staff, counselors and administration return to work, parents and students are encouraged to call the office to see specific hours and set up appointments as needed.

On Tuesday Aug. 31, seniors can go to the school to pick up their schedules and return any necessary paperwork. 

Schedules for juniors and paperwork drop off is scheduled for Wednesday Sept. 1, in the morning and for the sophomores in the afternoon.

Freshman transition day will be held on Thursday, Sept. 2.

Incoming freshman will have the opportunity to participate in fun activities including leadership and school spirit activities from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

“This is a big day for us, we want the incoming freshman to have the opportunity to get the flavor of the building by themselves, so they feel comfortable on the first day,” Principal Curt Randall Bayer said.

 Buses will be available this day for students residing outside of Bonners Ferry.  At 7:15 a.m. at Mount Hall School, at 7:30 a.m. at Naples and Evergreen Schools.

The buses will depart Bonners ferry high School at approximately noon to return students to these schools.

Students are requested to stay for the entire event.

Freshman transition day begins with a general meeting and general introductions in the high school gym. Students will be provided a continental breakfast, receive a locker and schedule information and go through a practice schedule to get an idea of what the teachers will expect.

Freshman will participate in various group activities and a snack will be provided at 11:30 a.m.

Bayer and the high school staff has invited the freshman to the freshman barbecue. The barbecue will begin at 6 p.m. and parents and students can ask questions and speak to administration, counselors, and student representatives.  Building tours can also be taken at this time.  The high school will provide drinks, hamburgers, plates, and utensils for the picnic.  Families are asked to provide the following, based on the students last name.

“We would like the parents and students to attend this event, it will give them an opportunity to have any questions or concerns addressed,” Bayer said.

A through H, salads; I through P, chips and snack items. Q through Z, desserts.

The high school would like to have an idea of how many students will be in attendance so they can plan for meals.  Please call the school at 267-3149 to let the staff know if your student will attend.

The first day of school is Tuesday, Sept. 7, BFHS will hold a back to school assembly .
