Mirror Lake men's league wraps season

The 13th and final week of Mirror Lake Men's Association league play took place Thursday, Aug. 12, with Century 21 taking the top spot in the team results with 129 strokes, followed by Pace Kerby, 134, and the season team champion Maggi Logging finishing third with 135 strokes.

In individual scoring, Mitch Vogl topped the low gross with 34 strokes, followed by Carey Reynolds, 35, and Chad Deitz, 38. Tom Mayo took low net on the week with 29 strokes, followed by Matt Maggi, 30, and John Youngwirth, 31.

The Maggi Logging Team, Matt Maggi, Jeremy Hill, Joey Villelli and Sam Ponsness, took the club championship for the season with 262.5 points, followed by Pace-Kerby Insurance, Darron Branson, Chris Mayti, John Youngwirth and Rob Flory, finishing second with 252 points. Kelly's Excavating, Stan Pruitt, Tom Mayo, Riley Mayo and Matt Duarte finished the season in third place with 249.5 points.

In par net scoring, Maggi Logging led the team standings with 13 under par. Trojan Lanes came in one over par, Kelly's Excavating eight over, the Troy Boys 14 over and Mugsy's finishing 18 over. Forest Capital led in par gross with 254, followed by Mugsy's, 340, Kelly's Excavating, 378, and Allen's Electric, 489.

In the team competition, club championships went to Forest Capital, Ed Moe, Chad Deitz, Steve Nelson and Travis Hinthorn for first low gross, first low net honors went to Maggi Logging.

Club championships for 36 Hole Club competition in A Flight low gross went to Haven Burton, 148, Joe Bopp, 149, and Carey Reynolds, 156; A Flight low net championships went to Carrick Remaley, 141, Matt Maggi, 142, and Steve Nelson, 144.

In B Flight low gross, Joe Wilkerson led with 181 strokes, follwed by Dave Anderson, 182, and George Graczik, 188. In B Flight low net, top honors went to Bruce Cole, 132, Tom Mayo, 142, and Art Hamaoke, 142.

In individual points, Matt Maggi led the season with 71, followed by Joey Villelli, 70, Carey Reynolds, 68, Darron Branson, 66.5, and Steve Nelson, 65.5. Top gross players on the season were Carey Reynolds, 36.62, Chad Deitz, 39, Ed Moe, 39.85, and Jeremy Hill, 39.85.

The dubious distinction of the top sand baggers, members who golf a lot better than their handicaps, went to Brady Marken, Carey Reynolds, George Graczik and Marvin Schweitzer.
