Commissioners: Get area people work

| December 2, 2010 10:10 AM

I'd like to congratulate incumbents Dinning and Kirby for their reelection as commissioners. I hope that they will do a better job this time around for the community. This town is dying due to anti-business attitudes.

Many mom and pop businesses are hanging on by a thread and cannot afford to hire more employees. If you will look around you should notice all the "for lease signs along the highway. Then take a good look at our down town, how many businesses are struggling or are closed?

Talk to any real estate agent and ask them how many commercial buildings are for sale or lease? One local restaurant is up for sale along with the local cinema.

Take off your blinders and have a good look. Your town is dying and you have to have some growth to keep the existing business open, and encourage other businesses to come here.

The city and county have not done much to get businesses here for  years and we need more businesses and those needed jobs for folks in our community. I hope you will wake up and do something before it is too late. I love our town and I hope you will get to work and seriously do

something to encourage new businesses here, jobs for local citizens, and keep existing businesses open.

Time to get to work.
