Garniel (Garry) Roberta Lindquist Huffman entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, Nov. 26 at age 89, as a resident of the Boundary County ECF.

Cremation has been entrusted to Bonners Ferry Funeral Home. Memorial gifts can be made to Boundary County Nursing Home.

A memorial service is planned for Friday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Crossroads Community Church in Bonners Ferry. Inurnment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park in Tacoma, Wash., with a graveside service on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010.

Garry was born in Salem, Ore., to Petros and Charlott Lindquist, and subsequently moved to the Tacoma, Wash., area where she went to school, graduating from Stadium High School.

Garry enjoyed participation in glee and gymnastic clubs. She worked as a nursing assistant for many years in area hospitals, ending her working career at the Boundary County ECF in Bonner's Ferry.

She met Roscoe Huffman in Tacoma, and they were married on Jan. 20, 1940, enjoying 50 years together before his passing in 1990.

They lived in the Tacoma area while raising their family, moving to Bonner's Ferry, Idaho, after Rocky's retirement. They very much enjoyed living in the rural community where Rocky had family roots.

They moved back to the Tacoma area during Rocky's final illness, and while Garry loved the ocean and the feel of salt air, she desired to move back to Bonner's Ferry after his passing where she had so many friends and family. She greatly loved the mountains of the Idaho panhandle and the wonderful community of Bonners Ferry.

Garry was preceded in death by her parents, sister Linda Guiles and brother Arven Lindquist, her husband, Rocky, and infant daughter Julia.

She is lovingly missed by her two sons, Roy (Marsha) of Longmont, Colo., and Mike of Tacoma, Wash.

Also surviving her are fourth grandchildren, Troy (Melissa) Scott of Libby, Mont., Ken (Erin) Huffman of Longmont, Colo., Stephen (Carrie) Huffman of Tallahassee, Fla., and Rebekah Huffman of Longmont, Colo., of whom she was very proud.

Also a great source of joy to her was her nine great grandchildren, as babies were always very special to her. She always wanted to see the new babes of friends and attendants who cared for her. She is mourned by nieces, nephews, and many, many friends, leaving a legacy of kindness and caring.
