Boundary County Restorium on Feb. 15 will begin an adult daycare program for families who care for an elderly person at home.

The program will accept up to five people from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The Restorium staff will assist with medications and other personal needs. Participants will get up to three meals a day and can join in activities, including Bingo and Uno.

The cost is $7 an hour.

The adult daycare program will provide an elderly person, who is not safe to be left at home, while the spouse in some cases, continues to work, said Restorium Administrator Karlene Lene.

“I have an excellent staff trained and working with the elderly,” Lene said. “It’s a service we can offer our community for someone who is struggling. It’s a good opportunity for anyone who simply needs a break.”

The program will be previewed during an open house from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at the county-owned assisted living center at 6619 Kaniksu St. Lasagna, French bread, coleslaw and applesauce cake will be served.

Entertainment will include music by The Tanners, acoustic guitarist Kathy Sheffler, The Old Time Fiddlers, Rob and Nancy Carrington and pianist Evelyn Holmes.

The adult daycare program could create up to three more part-time positions at the Restorium, Lene said.

“This service will also help someone that is thinking of coming to the Restorium to start with our daycare and make an easy transition from our daycare to staying as a permanent resident,” she added.
