Paradise Valley Fire commissioners praised

| February 11, 2010 8:00 PM

Thank God for the Paradise Valley Fire commissioners for getting fire chief Johnson’s pay back to reality.

Still the job is a good deal; $24,000 salary per year, 20 hours a week, company car and gas plus benefits (good deal). People in this county work more hours, much harder and for less than $24,000 per year.

Now we need to make a deal with fire chief Tony Rohrwasser. I hope that the Naples fire commissioners Paula Marqua, Scott Soults and Jerry Howell can get Rohrwasser to the negotiation table.

Heard is a heads up — Paradise Valley Fire District has about 1,100 property owners. The commissioners are trying to get the budget back to $112,000. The fire chief makes $24,000 per year plus.

The Naples district has about 400 property owners. The budget is $148,671, and fire chief Tony Rohrwasser makes $45,000 per year plus. Do the math.

If I have to run for fire commissioner in November, I will just to get this bad spending under control.
