The Lady Badgers were down 12-1 in the first quarter, but came back to make the score 12-9 by the end of the period and tied it up 22-22 at the half.

“We need to learn how to start better and be ready to play at the tip off,” said coach Travis Hinthorn. “This was the most energy I’ve seen us play with. Erin’s energy was great on defense, and I think the rest of us fed off of that.

In weekend action, Lady Badger Markayle Acord scored 10 points during Bonners Ferry’s 53-34 loss to Priest River.

“We fell behind 13-0 to start and only had 2 points in the second quarter,” Hinthorn said. “We knew we needed to stop (Spartans) Stewart and Hopkins and those two still scored the first 13 points of the game. That combined with our 2 points on the second quarter was the difference.”

“We played pretty well in the second half, but couldn’t fully recover from our poor first half,” he continued.

Priest River’s M. Hopkins scored 21 and teammate T. Stewart added 10.
