Lila Fae Heller-Mapes

Lila Fae Heller-Mapes, 90, went back to be with our Lord on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009.

Services will be held in the spring so family and friends can attend. 

Lila was born April 14, 1919, to Charles Herbert Heller and Jennie “Victoria” Jones in Stavely, Alberta, Canada. Lila was the second child of three children.

Lila’s father, Charles was a farmer while living in Stavely, but then moved to the Panhandle of Idaho in 1923, where he logged and fished for a living.

Lila was married to Raymond Stockdale, Roy Alexander and Dana A. Mapes.

She lived in various areas in the Idaho Panhandle and in the Puget Sound area in Washington.

Lila was a housekeeper in nursing homes while living in the Coeur d’Alene area.

In 1990, she moved to Bonners Ferry to be close to her children and grandchildren.

Lila liked to keep in touch with friends and family by visiting, calling or writing letters. She also loved to read, and later in her years, she would listen to books on tape.

Lila’s favorite pass time was crocheting.

She was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, children Lawrence A. Stockdale, Ann Marie Stockdale-Allen and Eddie D. Mapes; brother George Leonard and several grandchildren.

Lila is survived by her sister Verna LaVaughn Heller (Carter); children Charles R. Stockdale and his wife, Patsy, of Bonners Ferry, Betty Jean Stockdale-Varney and her husband, Reid, in Pocetallo, and Duane Lee Stockdale and his wife, Jeannie, of Bonners Ferry; son in-law, Richard Allen; 22 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 40 great-great-grandchildren.
