Police: Suspect knew where to find drugs

Police believe the suspect who burglarized the pharmacy inside Boundary Trading Co. knew exactly where to find the prescription drugs stolen two weeks ago.

“They knew what they were after,” said Bonners Ferry Deputy Chief of Police Joel Minor. “They didn’t trash the place and didn’t stay long.”

So far, none of drugs stolen from Well Life Pharmacy, which have a street value of several thousand dollars, have surfaced, Minor said.

Police continue to work on leads.

“The community has been pretty good about giving us ideas on what they thought and what they hard,” Minor said. “We’re just following up to see if we can pin it down.”

Narcotics including the painkillers morphine, methadone and Oxycodone were stolen when the break-in occurred between 4 p.m. Thursday, Christmas Eve, and the morning of Saturday, Dec. 26, police said. Entry was gained through the pharmacy’s drive-thru window, which appeared to have been pried open.

The pharmacy’s alarm did not go off.

“For whatever reason, it didn’t work,” Minor said.

Most of the drugs stolen were pills. Some of the Oxycodone was in liquid form, police said. The investigation is continuing.
