national Mentoring

January is National Mentoring Month, and I would like to thank the volunteers who have made this a very successful program for the children of our county.

Every school participates in the mentoring program. Since its beginning 13 years ago, over 50 adults have mentored approximately 75 children.

Students are matched with adult volunteers—after background checks, an interview and training. Parents provide permission and the relationship begins.

One hour a week is the typical time commitment. Mentoring a child can have a powerful impact; all it requires is a willingness to give of your time and share your experiences.
