Kellogg nets 14 points in Badgers' loss to Lake City JV
Bonners Ferry 6-foot-1 senior Alex Kellogg netted 14 points for the Badgers, who lost 55-52 to Lake City JV on Tuesday night.
Kellogg also led with 8 rebounds and 6 steals. .
Senior Colton Watt scored 13 and junior Mat Evans added 12 and led in assists with 7.
In other action, Sandpoint senior guard Stefan Buratto poured in 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, leading Sandpoint to a 59-52 nonleague win over Bonners Ferry Saturday night during the Second Annual Moose Madness spirit games at Sandpoint Middle School.
Mat Evans led the Badgers with 21 points in defeat.
“A real disappointing loss especially after gaining confidence against Sandpoint. We started out well but quickly ran into foul trouble early. We have a lot of work to do before Saturday's game agaianst a very good St. Maries team."
Sandpoint’s Skyler Tucker added 12 points for Sandpoint (3-6), Jackson Olin added seven points and four assists and Brandon Lawrence pulled down eight boards to go with four steals. The Bulldogs held a comfortable 18-point lead after three quarters, before the Badgers staged a wild comeback, cutting the deficit to four late in the fourth quarter.
“We let off a little, gave them a gap and they made a run,” said Bulldogs head coach Tyler Haynes, who lauded the fierce effort of the Badgers. “Smaller division, spirit game, and they played their guts out.”
Badgers Alex Kellogg and Alex Mendez each scored 9 and Justin Everhart added 8.
