Doris Lorraine Olson , 101

Doris Lorraine Olson , 101, passed away on June 20, 2010, at the Boundary County Nursing Home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Private services will be held with interment in the Grandview Cemetery, Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Doris was born on April 20, 1909, in Red Wing, Minn., to Otto and Augusta (Johnson) Swanson. She attended grade school and high school in Red Wing and attended teachers college at Mankato, Minn.

Doris taught school in Minnesota for several years. She met and married Spencer J. Olson on July 1, 1939, in Red Wing, Minn. They moved to Paynesville, Minn., Grand Marais, Minn., and Minneapolis, Minn.

In 1961, they moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho, where Spencer was employed at Olson’s Valley Ranch. Doris was an avid gardener and loved nature.

She was active in the Red Cross and was president of the Gray Ladies Group for several years. She devoted many hours to volunteering and was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary.

She attended the United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister and her husband Spencer who died in 1993.

Doris leaves many nieces and nephews and many friends.
