Since the decision to close Evergreen Elementary, staff at Evergreen and Valley View have been working hard to make the transition smooth.

The move from Evergreen Elementary to Valley View Elementary was completed in two days earlier this week. “It was a very smooth move,” said Cindy Orr, Valley View Principal. Orr recognized that the Evergreen Staff packed and unpacked their classrooms on their personal time. “They have worked very hard.”

Teachers from Evergreen Elementary have moved into a re-organized Valley View Elementary. With some shuffling, most grade-level classrooms will be clustered together.

At Valley View, the new teacher rooster will be:

Pre-school:  Kathy Schnuerle

Kindergarten: Susie Alverez, Susan Stagliano, Michelle Woods

First Grade: Tracey Feight, Jill Katz, Tonnie McRoberts, Francine Santoro

Second Grade: Amy Cowley, Debi Davis, Kim Dinsmore, Teresa Smith

Third Grade: Kelsey Galloway, Ruth Loveland, Paula Schulte

Fourth Grade: Doreen Beck, Cathy Funkhouser, Connie Perez

Fifth Grade: Tim Cady, Matt Dinning, Julie Johnson

Classroom assignments are underway and will be posted during the week of Aug. 16.

All Evergreen Elementary students will automatically be enrolled in Valley View Elementary.

If parents wish for their chiild to attend Mt. Hall Elementary or Naples Elementary, they need to fill out and return and open enrollment form to the District Office.

The form can be picked up at the District Office, located in the Boundary County Middle School between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. If parents have any questions, they can call the District Office at 267:3146.

With the current enrollment, the average class size is as follows: Kindergarten:18; first: 14.5; second:18.25; third: 24; fourth: 21.6; fifth: 20.6.

The previous  numbers are based on enrollment at the beginning of July and can change before the start of the school year.

There has been many people involved in the move and Orr wanted to thank everybody for their help and patience.

Valley View Staff have been through a roller coaster the last few months with the anticipation of the Naples consolidation and the current consolidation, but they have stayed positive through the moves and have welcomed all the new teachers according to Orr.

“The PTO of Evergreen, especially Megan Brown and Lori Plato, have been positive liasons between parents and myself,” said Orr. “I appreciate all of their help.”

Thanks also goes out to Jim Bace, Rob Kent, Wendy, Bob Tritt, LeRoy Timm, Terry Richards, Jim Nash and Pam Copeland for all of their help, she said.

“I am confident we will have a successful school year,” said Orr.
