Donald Lee Lozier, 73

Former Alaskan resident Donald Lee Lozier, 73, passed away on Nov. 27, 2009, in Thornton, Colo., of  Lewy Body Dementia.

Don was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, to E.H. (Ted) and Louetta Lozier on Jan. 21, 1936. 

A memorial service honoring Don’s love of life, family and friends will be held in Anchorage on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at First Church of God, 4317 Mac Innes S.,t from 2 -5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Don graduated from Thompson Falls High School in Montana, then joined the Army. After basic training and communication school, he was stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, in December 1955.

After his discharge, he remained in Alaska for the next 50-plus years and continued working in the communication field, then retired March 1, 1991, after 38 years of service with the Department of Defense.

Don enjoyed all that Alaska had to offer and lived his Alaskan dream to the fullest, hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and traveling throughout the great state. In August of 2006 Don and his wife Sherry moved to Thornton, Colo.

Don lived the remainder of his life in Colorado, but always knowing his home would forever be Alaska.

Don is survived by many loving family and friends.

He also is surived by His wife of 35 years, Sherry A. Lozier of Thornton, Colo.; a son, Donnie L. Lozier; daughter, Libbie D. Lozier; son in-law John Rothrock; grandchildren: Joshua and Anthony Reina; Kristil, Koltin and Kamrin Lozier; great-grandchildren: Jason Campbell and Natalie Rose Reina, all of Washington state; siblings, Edmund (Gene) Lozier of Tacoma, Wash.,  Richard and Audrie Lozier, Marie (Dolly) Lozier, Elva May (Peach) and Alva Baker, John and Sue Lozier, all of Bonners Ferry.

Don was preceded in death by his parents E. H. (Ted) and Louetta Lozier and brother Harley Carlyle Lozier.
