Hometown band perform free holiday concert

A free rock concert for all ages will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 4, at Boundary County Fairgrounds by home-grown band, Anonymous.

The band began playing together about five years ago as a worship band at what was formerly known as the Wellsprings Church. This will be the bands first live performance as a group since those days, according to lead singer and guitarist Mike Gavin.

Anonymous will be performing 10 of their 27 original songs during the fourth of July concert.

“We are not a cover band, we write lyrics, arrange music and just finished our 27th  song,” said Gavin. “We are an insanely talented rock band.”

Gavin, 28, lived in Bonners Ferry until he was 14-years-old. He then moved to Oregon.

During the following years, he has moved back and forth but always returns to Bonners Ferry.

“I keep coming back because my roots are here and this is my home town,” said Gavin. “No matter what big city I spend time in, I am a Bonners Ferrian at heart.”

Lead guitarist Donnie Fallis, 20,  was born and raised in Bonners Ferry and plans to stay if things go well with the band.

“If the band does not do well, the plan is to go to Lewiston,” said Fallis.

Jordan Stockton, 19, is the band’s base guitarist and is back in Bonners Ferry after his first year at Lewis and Clark State College.

After summer, he will return to Lewiston for school and keep up with the band, Stockton said.

Michael Florey, 18, is the drummer and youngest member of the band. He graduated from Bonners Ferry High School last month. He is also learning vocals from Gavin.

“I plan on moving to Lewiston after the summer to look for work and play in the band,” said Florey.

Gavin trained the band members while in the worship group to play the instruments they play for Anonymous. 

The band plays all kinds of styles of music, with a main focus on thard rock, pop-punk, and alternative rock. They also play acoustic versions of their songs.

The hard core rock the band plays sends out positive messages, as does all their music, Gavin said.The lyrics state truth and conviction.

“The music that we are playing will be family fun, happy and upbeat with no dark ominous tones,” said Stockton.
