Marlene Adelene Stueve, 70

Marlene Adelene Stueve, 70, passed away at her home near Bonners Ferry, Idaho, on June 10, 2010.

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, with interment in the Craig Cemetery, Craig, Mont.

Marlene Adelene Tenney was born on Nov. 29, 1939, Great Falls, Mont., to John C. Tenney and Virginia M Wilson Tenney.

Marlene attended school in Fairfield, Mont., and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1957. She took college classes in Helena, Mont.

Marlene met her future husband Richard (Dick) L. Evans at a rodeo and they married on June 19, 1959. in Fairfield, Mont., and remained married until Dick’s death in August of 1989.

They began their married life living in Fort Benton, Montana where Dick worked in construction.

They had four children, Sharlene Evans Delaney, Richard C. (Craig) Evans, Doreen D. (Dee Dee) Evans Oxford, and Douglas B. Evans. They lived in various placed n Montana and Wyoming until Dick started working for the railroad in the mid 1960’s.

In January 1971 Dick’s work relocated his family to Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Marlene and Dick enjoyed bowling and were very active in bowling leagues at the Bonners Ferry bowling alley.

After living in town for four years, Dick and Marlene moved the family out to Deer Creek to start the family ranch.

Marlene’s first job in Bonners Ferry was driving grain trucks during harvest season. She had other jobs as some may remember her as the feisty waitress at The Hemlocks Restaurant and Blake’s at Bonner Lake. She worked many years as a mail carrier until she started driving school bus in 1978 and did that until she retired in 2005.

Many Bonners Ferry kids may remember her as the “scariest” bus driver they ever had.

Marlene married Harold R. (Ray) Stueve in 1990, and they remained married until Ray’s death in October 2000. Marlene was a hard worker, at her many jobs and working the family ranch.

In addition to working hard, Marlene had many hobbies. She loved bowling, reading, picking huckleberries, horses, growing flowers, feeding birds, watching the deer, collecting wind chimes, and playing with the grandchildren.

Marlene enjoyed many visits to Phoenix to visit Craig and his family where she was known as “far away grandma.”

Marlene is survived by sister Jayette Robb (Russ), brother Jim Tenney, children Sharlene Delaney (John), Craig Evans (Michelle), Dee Dee Oxford (Tom), Doug Evans (Darla), grandchildren Megan Johnson (Nick), Amber Weymer (Colin), Derek Oxford (Lindsay), Jacob Oxford, Kerstin Oxford, Mat Evans, Brenden Evans, Siobhan Evans, Brittni Evans, Richard Evans and Harrison Evans and one great-grandchild Gaige Johnson, numerous nephews and nieces and her extended Stueve family.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents John C. and Virginia M. Tenney, brother Dennis Tenney, husbands Dick Evans and Ray Stueve.

She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.
