Ben Mitchell

Montana State University Northern Lights basketball coach Shawn Huse has announced the signing of Ben Mitchell, a 6'5 forward transfer from Spokane Community College.

Mitchell, a Sandpoint High School graduate,  played a big role for Spokane CC his freshman year (posting three triple-doubles) while leading his team to first place finish in the East and a third place in the NWAACC.

He also attended Bonners Ferry High School.

As a sophomore Ben averaged 13 points per game, five rebounds per game and shot more than 50 percent from the field.

Coach Huse on Mitchell, "Ben is a very solid all-around forward. Not only is he very good around the basket, but he also shoots the ball with great consistency from the perimeter.”

He is a very tough matchup for opposing players at his position. Defensively, he is very strong and does a great job of garnering rebounds among the “trees,” the coach said.

“Ben should hit the ground running next year as he red-shirted for us this spring.”

He learned a great deal of what our system is about through daily workout sessions, and from the sideline on Frontier Conference game-nights as well.

He should play a huge part in filling the vacancies left behind by our forwards that were seniors last year.”
