Kootenai River Rodeo Queen Farryn Balch is looking forward to her experience as rodeo queen for 2010.

The 16-year-old has been participating in rodeo since she was four. She barrel races and considers rodeo her most important hobby and also enjoys drawing.

Farryn is the daughter of Linda Redman. The  Bonners Ferry High School senior moved to Bonners Ferry in her kindergarten year and moved away for a short time and returned.

“I have lived here about eight years,” said Balch. “I am so grateful to my mom for helping haul my horse, and to Paula Nelson who has been a great queen coordinator.”

Farryn said her mother has always shown her support and kept her positive. Farryn has one brother, Hyatt, 14.

You can see the rodeo queen at The Kootenai River Rodeo starting at 7 p.m., Friday, June 25, and Saturday, June 26, at the Boundary County Fairgrounds.
