Commissioners' attitude discouraging

| March 4, 2010 8:00 PM

The article starts out “at the request of a resident, Boundary County commissioners on Monday took a stand on local militia.”

Chairman Ron Smith with longtime rubber stamper commissioner Walt Kirby took it on their own to say the militia isn’t needed.

I am sure King George III would be proud of their action. I’m not a member of any militia, but I am a retired military veteran, former police officer (yes, from one of those big cities) and retired from aerospace.

In all my police and military training I was taught to hope for the best, but plan for the worst. Ron Smith and fellow commissioners’ arrogant attitude and discouragement of citizens to exercise their Constitutional rights should be a red flag.

It appears any opposition — real or imaginary — just won’t be tolerated in Ron’s Fiefdom.

I wish you would have told me earlier and I wouldn’t have wasted my time studying U.S. History and believing our founding fathers when they said guys like you would show up now and then. I can’t wait to see what else you would like to get rid of.
