Newport man dies in snowmobile accident

BONNERS FERRY — Marek Dabrowski, 32, of Newport, Wash., died in a snowmobiling accident Saturday.

According to a Bonner County Sheriff's Office press release, Dabrowski was snowmobiling in the McCormick Lake area of Boundary County when he was buried in an avalanche at about 1 p.m.

On scene witnesses extricated Mr. Dabrowski who was buried beneath four feet of snow. Attempts to perform CPR were unsuccessful.

At the request of the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, the Priest Lake Search and Rescue and the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office were asked to recover the victim.

Rescuers were able to reach Dabrowski until early Sunday morning when his body was flown out by helicopter.

Notifications to the family have been made.
