Bonners Ferry Lacrosse Club to Scrimmage Sandpoint
The Bonners Ferry Lacrosse Club will scrimmage the Sandpoint Lacrosse Club on March 23 at 5 p.m. at the Boundary County Fairgrounds.
The lub has been practicing since the season started on Feb 15, practicing indoors at the Valley View Gym for three weeks and on grass at the fairgrounds for the past week.
The team consists of 24 players with just four returning from last year’s team.
They are: Joey Welch, Kelly Van Allen, Mike Brewer and Ben Watt.
There are 10 players coming up from the middle school program. They are: Loren Abeyta, Hunter Borer, Aaron Dunham, Joel Fields, William Gaspar, Morris McAllister, Ryan Mullison, Josh Miller, and Zach Wilson. Shayne Hamilton has returned after a years absent.
New comers to the team are: Sean Cooney, Gunnar Eng, Brandon Hubbs, Matt Marcus, Chris Moran, Mack Novak, Matt Piccolo, Zach Smith, Brady Walker, and Matt Eule. Several of these boys have past experience playing lacrosse and will help the team to be competitive in the North Idaho Lacrosse League.
The Bonners Ferry Lacrosse Club is coached by John Niewieroski, John Burke, and Brandon Glaza.
The boys have been seeking work assignments to help pay their pay to play fees, and they would like to thank Jim Paulus; and Jay Wages, owner of Les Schwab Tire Company for providing work details.
In addition, the team would also like to recognize, Skip O’Fallon, Mountain West Bank Branch Manager; the Bonners Ferry Rotary Club; and Brandon Glaza for their generous donations in support of the lacrosse program.
