Badgers down Timberlake, fall to Priest River
Chelsea Taggart pitched seven innings April 20 against the Timberlake Tigers, striking out 11, walking three and allowing only five hits to lead the team to an 11-8 victory and their first win of the season.
Samantha Robertson led the Badgers on hits, connecting with three, including a double, and Mattea Bertling, Lindsey Taggart and Chelsea Taggart each hit two, with Chelsea popping a double. Caitlin Alexander and Rebecca Farrens each connected for a single, Fallon Orr popped a double and Jordan Porter a triple.
On Thursday, the Badgers traveled to face the Sandpoint JV, and fell 13-3, with Lindsey Taggart pitching six innings, getting one strike out on three hits. Robertson and Chelsea Taggart each had one hit, Taggart for a double.
Things continued bleak for the Badgers as the hosted Priest River Saturday, falling 18-12 and 11-0.
In the opening game, Chelsea Taggart pitched seven innings, striking out one, walking one and giving up 14 hits. She did well on the other side of the plate, hitting three, including two doubles.
Alexander also connected with three, followed by Fallon Orr, who hit two, including a triple, Lindsey Taggart and Sammye Tompkins, each with two singles, and Robertson and Bertling, each hitting a double, and Farrens, who came in with a single.
Chelsea also pitched all five innings of the second game, allowing 14 hits, one walk and getting no one out. She hit two singles in the game, as did Bertling.
The Badgers traveled to Priest River on Tuesday, and fell again, 10-0, with Chelsea giving an identical pitching performance. She and Lindsey Taggart each hit singles in the game.
The losses put the Badgers at the bottom of the IML standings with a 1-6 record. They next face St. Maries, ranked number two behind Timberlake with a 10-5 season record, 4-3 in league, on Thursday.
