Community invited to meet PVFD members

| October 4, 2010 9:00 PM

Paradise Valley Fire Chief Gary Leonard is inviting everyone in the community to a potluck get together at the main station.

The potluck will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at 2492 Paradise Valley Road.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, smokies and chips will be provided by the district.

Guests can bring themselves, their children or grandchildren and a favorite side dish.

The district will also be providing entertainment.

The Northwest Medstar helicopter will land and its crew will be on hand to demonstrate their equipment.  They will demonstrate how they respond to an emergency.

There will also be a burn demonstration in the burn pan as well as the chance to shoot at targets using hoses powered by water from a water tender.

Community members can meet the people of the fire district, firefighters, and board members.

People  will learn about the roles the fire district plays and learn how they can be an active in the functions of the district, whether to lend expertise, volunteer as a firefighter, support the team by bringing food and water during a call-out or help keep the stations, books, equipment and gear all up to date and ready to respond.

Paradise Valley Fire is a district, but it still depends on the adage of “neighbors helping neighbors,” and depends on the contributions and participation of anyone who would like to help make the community a safer place.
