The Badgers football team lost in Moscow 27-8.  Seven players did not play due to injury or illness during Friday’s game.  Chase Mellon scored the touchdown for the Badgers and the two point conversion.

“This gave us the opportunity to play a lot of guys who had not seen a lot of playing time,” said coach Ed DePriest. “We were able to evaluate how these young men did under pressure and give them a chance to demonstrate their ability.”

DePriest said the experience gained by those who did play will be beneficial as they move down the homestretch of the season.

“We are not so concerned about our win loss record,” DePriest said. “Our focus all year long has been on the league games.”

According to DePriest the non-league games have given the team the opportunity to develop depth in many positions.

The Badgers will be practicing hard this week gearing up for their  league game at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, in Kellogg.
