Everhart should listen to community

| October 21, 2010 9:00 PM

It appears that my competition for county commissioner has aligned himself with views held by the lands council and the Idaho Conservation League. These views are contrary to my core beliefs and detrimental to the needs of citizens of our county.

The Colville collaborative that he wishes to impose on us deals with lands and conditions that are drastically different than Boundary County. Fully 90 percent of federal lands in Boundary County are already encumbered by roadless areas, endangered species habitat and other restrictions placed on land use..

Why should we be asked to give up more just to be able to manage the 10 percent that remains?

We should not.

I fully support the wishes of the local community that collaborated in the production of the current process.

Mr. Everhart, you should listen to the local people. I do.
