Peter Small

| October 21, 2010 9:00 PM

Peter Small, of Moyie Springs, passed away on Sept. 30.

He spent the last hours of his life riding his motorcycle along Kootenai Lake in British Columbia, Canada. Peter was born on July 14, 1946 to Muriel (Grosman) and David Small.

Peter spent his childhood in Massachusetts and Japan, before joining the First Calvary of the Armed Forces and later the National Guard.  He served in Vietnam, and was also stationed in Korea.

Peter then made Moyie Springs his home for the last forty years, building his own house and living on the land that he loved.

Peter pursued various ventures, including logging, studying photography, and finally discovering his niche as a motorcycle-racing jeweler. Known world wide for his unique jewelry designs, and exceptional riding ability, Peter was dear to many, near and far.

His adventurous spirit brought him around the globe, including Europe and the Far East, often travelling by motorcycle. Known for his passionate nature, he was a man who always spoke his mind.

Peter leaves behind his two children, Andrew Small, and Ariana Gravelle (husband Kristefer).

He was unique, one of kind, and lived life by his own rules. He will be missed by all for his eccentricities, and tender heart. It is a comfort to know that he died doing what he loved.

Memorial services will be held at the Bonners Ferry Fairgrounds at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 in the exhibition hall.

In lieu of flowers, please bring a memory of Peter that you would like to share.
