The 2010 Bonners Ferry High School girls soccer team has kicked-off the season and coach John Lindberg is looking forward to his 18th year of coaching the Lady Badgers.

The BFHS girls soccer team lost two games and won one at the State Tournament last season.

Lindberg said this years team is young but their hard work so far has him confident in the season ahead.

“We are a young team with a good class of freshman and sophomores that are somewhat inexperienced, but also have a pay off of returning juniors and seniors,” said Lindberg.

With a team of eight returning players, Lindberg said he is confident that he and assistant coach Jeanne Racer can work hard to get the girls on the level they need to be.

“We do a lot of coaching from the sidelines, “ Lindberg said.

Last year the Lady Badgers finished third in the Intermountain League winning them a place at state along side Orofino.

“We have to gain confidence in passing, shooting and defensive games,” Lindberg said.  “The constant changing from offense to defense has been tiring but I feel we can do well regardless.”

The Lady Badgers dropped the opener at Kellogg with Kellogg winning 3 to 1 on Saturday.  The Lady Badgers were bear by Lakeland on Aug. 23,  3 to 0.

District tournaments will be at Lakeland and dates will be announced at a later date.  State tournament will be Oct. 21 through the 23 in Idaho Falls Idaho.
