Principal of Boundary Middle School Dick Behrens said that the sixth-grade “Transition Day” event held Thursday was a great success with about 80 percent of the incoming sixth-graders attending.

Students were able to meet teachers, receive lockers and pick up their schedules.  They also practiced the new art of opening their lockers.

“At 8 a.m. when students arrived you could see they were nervous an a little scared,” said Behrens.”  “By the time 10 a.m. came around they were excited and ready for  school to start.”

That same evening a “Back to School Night” was held for all students of BCMS and their families.  Parents had the opportunity to meet teachers and discuss classes their children will be taking.  The turnout was a little light as this was the first time of the event but still had a nice turnout.

Behrens thought it could be because so many other activities were taking place the same evening including, Valley Views meet the teacher night and the freshman transition barbecue.

“Perhaps next year we can we can all get together and plan these events on different days before the next school year begins,” Behrens said.
