Girls soccer team wins one, drops one

The Bonners Ferry high School Lady Badgers lost to Libby Monday in Troy with a score of 4-0.
“Very wet playing conditions against a very physical Libby team left us with a few minor injuries,” said coach John Lindberg.
Darian Tompkins injured an eye, Mariah Harris and Amanda Riley had ankle injuries due to contact with Libby but are expected to play in this weeks home games.
Lindberg said the girls who stayed in the game did well in spite of the sloppy field and that the Badgers played a very fine game in the first half.
“The keeper did exceptionally well all things considered,” Lindberg said. “Three of the shots taken were very close to the goal, impossible to stop.”
A wet Priest River home field verses a determined Badger team created a 2 to 0 win by the Badgers Saturday.
Riley reached the back of the net off a rebound in the 36th minute and Sidney Hubbard added an insurance goal in the 64th minute off a Liz Racer assist to give the Badgers a 2-0 Intermountain League win over the Spartans.
The Badgers posted nine shots-on-goal to Priest River’s five. Shots-on-goal are counted only if that attempt had a very high probability of scoring.
Keeper Hailey Pruitt had five saves to Priest River’s six.
“The entire Badger squad created a huge team effort,” said Lindberg. “We’re really progressing well as a young team made up mostly of freshman and sophomores.”
“We’re just trying to work our way through league and get to the playoffs where it all counts,” he said.
Bonners Ferry (2-1-6, 2-1-3 IML) play two home games the first Timberlake at 6 p.m. today and then at 11 a.m., Saturday against St. Maries
