The Boundary County Planning and Zoning Commission

| April 5, 2011 1:41 PM

The Boundary County Planning and Zoning Commission will hold the first special meeting on the proposed Boundary County Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance.

The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011,  in the main courtroom at the Boundary County Courthouse.

The Boundary County Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance establishes local land use law as required by the Idaho Land Use Planning Act, in conformance with the Boundary County Comprehensive Plan, adopted in July, 2008, and thus affects everyone who lives or owns property in the county outside the city limits of Bonners Ferry and Moyie Springs.

No decision will be rendered at this initial public hearing.

Instead, public comment will be taken under advisement for the conduct of planning and zoning workshops to amend the draft, if needed, and to develop a new Boundary County zoning map.

A second public hearing before the planning and zoning commission has tentatively been scheduled to place in June. Additional public hearings will be held by County Commissioners after a recommendation has been rendered by the planning and zoning commission.

Copies of the proposed ordinance are available on the Boundary County website, www.boundarycountyid.org, at the Boundary County Library, and at the Planning and Zoning Office, Room 16 at the county courthouse, 6452 Kootenai Street, Bonners Ferry, (208) 267-7212.

Participation in this first public hearing is encouraged.

The deadline for written comment and material is 5 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011. Written comment may be mailed to Boundary County Planning and Zoning, PO Box 419, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805, faxed to (208) 267-1205, or emailed to planning@boundarycountyid.org.

Written comment will be accepted at public hearing provided the material is read into the record. There may be a five minute limit per person on verbal testimony.

Anyone requiring special accommodation due to handicap or disability should contact the planning office at least two days prior to the hearing.
