Bonners Ferry senior Benny Watt is one of three wrestlers from Bonners Ferry to become an All-American.

He joins his sister, Bri Watt, who was a Fila women’s All American and Boise State redshirt senior Adam Hall, Pac-10 Conference wrestling scholar-athlete of the Year .

Watt went the Montana Open, and placed first in the 18u and wrestled a weigh class higher than usual at 145 so he would have more competition.

A week after winning the Montana Open, Watt wrestled at the USA Folkstyle Nationals in Cedar Falls, Iowa, placing eighth at 140 pounds in a bracket of 54 winning four matches by pin on the first day.

There were teams from nine states represented, with 1200 wrestlers competing.

Watt will attend the University of Great Falls as a red-shirt freshman.

Watt had three goals going into high school and has achieved them all.  The first was to become a high school state champion, become al All-American and the third to receive a wrestling scholarship.

Watt was the first of the University of Great Falls, Mont., class of 2011 to sign a letter of intent with the Argos wrestling team back in August 2010.

The Argos won third place at nationals last year  — the best finish in history for the school.
