Bonners Ferry Lacrosse Club Wins One at Home While Losing One On The Road
On Wednesday, April 13, The Warriors played the Logos Knights, a small Christian school from Moscow and came away with their first victory against the scrappy Knights in the six years that they have been playing.
The Knights led throughout the majority of the game, 2-1 at the end of the first quarter, 3-1 at the end of the second quarter, and 7-3 at the end of third quarter.
At one point in the fourth quarter the Knights lead 8-3 before the Warrior started the comeback. Coaches Niewieroski, and Glaza had high praise for the players for not giving up when they were down by five goals in the fourth quarter.
Leading the Warriors in scoring was Brian Murphy with four goals, while Colin MacDonald and Mitch Carroll knotted two goals each.
Stephen Bachmann scored to win the game in sudden death overtime. The final score was 9-8 in favor of the Warriors.
Midfielder Stephen Bachman started the comeback winning five faceoffs during the fourth quarter, while attackmen, Loren Abeyta, Sean Miser, and Brennan Mitchell; and middies Josh Miller, Joel Fields, Tyler Childers, and Zach Wilson kept the pressure up attacking the Knights defense.
The Warrior defense lead by goalie Wesley Kreiner, who had 14 saves for the game; and defensemen, Kyle Mullin, Shane Hefferman, Clayton Wang, Hunter Borer, Philip Maduro, and Morris McAllister, limited the Knights to just two goals in the fourth quarter, and the seven minutes played in sudden death overtime.
Warriors vs. T Wolves
On Friday, April 15, The Warriors traveled to Coeur d’Alene to take on the Lake City High School Timberwolves.
The Warriors opened the scoring when Mitch Carroll found the back of the net from about 12 yard out.
The Timberwolves responded by scoring within the next minute of play and then never surrendering the lead for the remainder of the game. They led 3-1 at the end of the first quarter, 5-1 at halftime, 9-4 at the end of the 3rd quarter, and the final score 12-7.
One positive note is the final score of 12-7.
In past years the Timberwolves were able to run up the score 15-1, 18-2, 14-3, and 18-4, and had the potential of making the scores of these games even higher with their high number of shots on goal per game.
In Friday’s game the Timberwolves took a total of 26 shots on goal. Warriors goalie Wesley Kreiner made 14 saves during the game.
The next is today at 5 p.m. against the Gonzaga Prep Bulldogs.
