Bonners Ferry Lacrosse Club Drop Two Home Games

The Bonners Ferry Warriors lacrosse club lost two home games last week to the top two teams in the League.

On April 21, the Warriors played the league’s first place  Gonzaga Prep (7-0) and again the Warriors struck first with middie Mitch Carroll putting the rock in the back of the net. 

Gonzaga prep score four unanswered goals before Colin MacDonald scored the final goal of the first quarter, making the score 4-2 in favor of G-Prep.

In the second quarter G-Prep scored two unanswered goals extending their lead to 6-2 at halftime.

In the third quarter both teams traded goals with Carroll finding the back of the net two times for a hat trick, and Zach Wilson getting a goal before  G-Prep added one more goal to extend their lead to 10-5 at the end third quarter.

In the final quarter Stephen Bachmann scored ywo goals while Zach Wilson scored his second goal of the game.  G-Prep scored two additional goals and the final score was 12-8

Coach Niewieroski pointed out that we need to find a way to keep out players out of the penalty box.  The Warriors had 10 penalties, and Gonzaga Prep responded with fiveman up goals.

On April 19 the Warriors played the league’s second place team Coeur d’Alene High School Vikings (6-1).  In the first quarter neither team could score while there was up and down action at both ends of the field. The Warriors struck first with Colin MacDonald finding the back of the net from close range early in the second quarter. 

The Vikings then scored four unanswered goals before  Stephen Bachmann responded with goal with just 32 seconds left in the quarter.  The Vikings lead 4-2 at halftime. 

In the third quarter the Vikings extended their lead scoring two more goals before  Colin MacDonald scored his second goal of the game making the score 6-3 in favor of the Vikings  at the end of the quarter.  

The Vikings, in the fourth quarter, extended their lead with three unanswered goals before the final horn sounded.

Coaches Niewieroski and Glaza had high praise for the defensive squad lead by Wesley Kreiner who had 16 saves during the contest

Next the Warriors play away at Lake City on April 29 before returning home to play Lake City at the fairgrounds at 6 p.m., Tuesday,  May 3.
