Don C. Chandler, 76

Don C. Chandler, 76, departed this earth at the Pinewood Care Facility in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011, at 3:30 p.m. at the Grandview Cemetery, Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Following the service a reception will be held at the Chic n Chop restaurant.

Don was born in Long Beach, Calif., on Dec. 21, 1934, to Irene and Harold Chandler. His youth was spent in Long Beach where his primary interests were automobiles and drag racing.  

He was an excellent mechanic and was working as a tune up mechanic in his late teens.  

Don served two years in the U. S. Army and returned to Long Beach after is discharge. He was employed by General Telephone as a mechanic and held the position of Fleet Supervisor at the time of his retirement.

He then converted a forty passenger Greyhound Bus he had purchased into a R.V. which served as his home until a tragic accident left him incapacitated.

Don spent his winters in California and his summers in Bonners Ferry enabling him to play golf year around. Golf, his bus and his many friends were the joy of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carolyn Miller.

He is survived by his brother-in-law Dean Miler, nephews Chris Miller and wife Jan; Kirk Miller and wife Claudia; Dane Miller and wife Arlene; and niece Sheri Spuhler and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
