R. Christine Jeffries, 79

R. Christine Jeffries, 79, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011, at her home in Bonners Ferry.

Christine was the eighth child of 10 and was born on Dec. 15, 1931, in Porthill to Alfred and Ora Glea Baker.

Living along the Kootenai River, near Lucas Creek, and attended Lindberg Elementary School in District 10.  Christine went on to graduate from Bonners Ferry High School on May 8, 1950.  Following graduation, Christine joined the United States Army in June 1950.

Christine was married for a brief time and gave birth to Kreg Webb in 1952.  She then returned to Bonners Ferry and worked as a nurses aid at Boundary Community Hospital. Christine furthered her education in Minneapolis, to become an X-ray technician. 

She once again returned to work at Boundary Community Hospital until her retirement in 1987.

On May 10, 1963, Christine married John Jeffries Jr.  John and Christine ran the Shamrock until the mid 1970’s.

Christine, with husband John, loved to load their International pickup with huge loads of firewood. Chris also enjoyed camping, where she was known as a master camp fire builder. With numerous lifelong friends and family, Chris and John spent years snow mobiling, fishing and hunting.

At home you could always find Christine working in her beautiful flower beds, or spoiling her cat Misty with shrimp. One of Christine’s great loves was always the children whom came to visit her and she became fond of.  Chrissy will be greatly missed by all of them.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Jeffries Jr., siblings Curt Baker, Robert Baker, Milo Baker, Crystal Baker and Chester Baker.

Christine is survived by her son Kreg Webb from Phoenix Ariz., sister Eula Thompson of Sandpoint, sister Joyce Gross of Bonners Ferry, brother Alva Baker of Bonners Ferry, sister-in-law Pam Baker of Porthill, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and extended family.
