Moyie Springs man killed in collision with deer

On Aug. 3, a  Dodge pick up traveling southbound on Highway 95  hit a deer in to a northbound motorcyclist killing the man instantly, according to Idaho State Police.

George Michael (Mike)  Kirk, 64, of Moyie Springs was riding a BMW motorcycle and struck the oncoming deer and went into a ditch. EMT's perfomred CPR at the scene but could not revive Kirk.

Wayne Wilkerson, 46, of Naples was driving the pick up that initially hit the deer into the other Kirk’s lane.

Highway 95 was blocked in both directions just south of Wohali's Wrecking yard for more than three hours.

Kirk and his wife Julie own Mountain Mike’s Health Food Store in Bonners Ferry.

ISP, Boundary County Sheriffs deputies, Boundary Volunteer Ambulance and South Boundary Fire personnel responded.
