Fair Royalty 'Out Of This World'

The Boundary County Fair will be held Aug. 17, through Aug. 20. 

There will be a parade at noon Saturday Aug. 20, in downtown Bonners Ferry.

People at the fair can see four lovely young women who are representing Boundary County fair as fair royalty. 

Whitney White,  Courtney Tanner, Mariah Munson and Paula Sandelin, are fair princesses this year.

“We are there to relieve some of the stress off of the fair board and help people attending the fair with finding events and playing games with kids,” Munson said.

No young men auditioned this year for fair king, but the girls hope to recruit some for next year.

Whitney White,18, is the daughter of Chester and Wendy White.

She has one older brother. She graduated from Bonners Ferry High School this year and plans on attending Lewis and Clark State College to become a dental assistant. 

She has lived her entire life on Bonners Ferry. She has been a member of 4-H for seven years. Her favorite thing in 4-H is participating animal events.

Seventeen-year-old Courtney Tanner is home schooled.

She plans on going to college to obtain an arts or design degree. Her parents are Steve and Jacque Tanner and she he has five sisters and two brothers.

She has lived in Bonners Ferry her entire life. She has been involved with 4-H for nine years. Her favorite things about 4-H are photography, poetry, sewing and scrapbooking. 

She said there are so many things to learn it is hard to name everything and she also said the leaders are very cool.

Mariah Munson, 16,  is a junior at BFHS. She would like to attend Brigham Young University and study law. Someday she would like to become a judge.

Her parents are Tamie Goggia and  Bill Munson; she has three sisters. She has also lived in Bonners Ferry her entire life. She has been a member of 4-H for 11 years. 

She also has done all kinds of projects for 4-H and is also a member of Future Farmers of America. She enjoys the lama events, sewing, scrapbooking, being a team leader and her favorite thing in 4-H is  learning new skills that she will develop throughout her life,

Paula Sandelin, 16, is a home schooled senior who wants to attend the University of Idaho to become a veterinarian.

She is the daughter of Leah Sandelin and Jerry Schilling. She has two brothers and two sisters. She has lived in Bonners Ferry her entire lifeand has been involved with 4-H for four years.

She participates in horse events, leadership, drill team and vet science. Her favorite thing is showing animals.

The girls all agree that working with community  and getting involved is important for other youth to do as well. They encourage all young people to get involved and take part in the fair a wonderful community event.

The girls will be out and about judging windows of businesses around town who decorate their window in the fair theme  ‘Out of This World’.

Businesses who want to participate need to call Sandy at the fair office to let her know by Monday, Aug. 15.

The winning business will receive a half page ad in the fair book for next year.

Royalty will be judging windows on Aug. 16.
