BFHS wrestlers cut a wide, winning swath in January
The Bonners Ferry Badgers wrestling ream has had a very busy January, al lot of traveling and a lot of winning starting with Riverside Tournament on Jan. 8.
Since then they hosted Sandpoint and Lake City winning both matches. Instead of going to Missoula the 14th, and 15th the team went to Lewiston where they took 8th in a 29 team tournament Jan. 25 found them at home against Lakeland and Priest River.
Bonners Ferry won both matches, Lakeland 26 Bonners 47, Priest River 33 and Bonners Ferry 40.
On Jan. 28 the Badgers took on American Falls winning 45 to 36 with pins by Blaine Inversion, Dusty Koehler, Brandon Scmidt and David Willems.
Trevor Hampton had a tech fall 17-2, and Benny Watt won 10-1. They also took Lakeland and won 52 to 21 with pins scored by Dusty Koehler, Ben Watt, Carmon Kritchbalm and David Willems.
Jan. 29 was the Coeur d’ Allen tournament with 13 teams present. Started at 9 a.m. and didn’t finish until after 7 p.m. with Coeur d’ Alene taking the tournament with 209.5, second Post Falls with 120.5, third American Falls with 103, and Bonners Ferry came in fourth with 80.5 points.
Bonners Ferry had one first place finish in the B class David Champion, two second places, one third and one fourth.
Bonners has their own tournament this weekend at 4 p.m.on Friday, Feb. 4 and at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5.
People who haven’t seen a match this year come out and support the Badgers, they could use it and really appreciate it.
