Fred Guthrie, 87

Fred Guthrie, 87, passed away Dec. 31, 2010, in Spokane, Wash.  

A celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Feb. 5, 2011, at noon at the Kootenai River Inn in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.  

Graveside services will be held on May 21, 2011, at 1 p.m. in the Grandview Cemetery, Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

He was born in a log cabin in Copeland, Idaho, on Dec. 4, 1923, to Chauncey and Josephine Guthrie. He was the fourth child out of a family that eventually included two daughters and five sons.  

Fred was a twice wounded, decorated veteran of WWII and attained the rank of Buck Sgt.

His military service was performed primarily in the European theatre and included the invasion at Normandy Beach, the Battle of the Bulge and Buchenwald (always remember).

Fred will be remembered for his outgoing friendly nature and his talent as a country-western musician. His pride and joy was his family. Fred was happily married for fifty three years to his beloved wife, Annabelle Lesmeister Guthrie (deceased).  

Fred is survived by his children Russ (Patti Butler- Fiancé) Guthrie, Debbie (Greg) Prater, Michael (Jan) Guthrie, Calleen Veh (loving companion), two brothers, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to www.woundedwarriorproject.org .
