Thomas Joseph Roy

Thomas Joseph Roy, Jr., 73, resident of Moyie Springs, Idaho, joined his loving wife Marie in heaven on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2011, in Spokane, Wash., after an extended illness.

Tom was born on Jan. 6, 1938, in Bemidji, Minn., to Thomas and Eunice Roy, Sr.  He grew up and attended schools in Libby, Mont., after which he served in the United States Army. 

Tom married Marie Hartell in 1968 in Libby.  He was the ultimate salesman, and spent most of his career selling cars in Libby, Kalispell, and Sandpoint.  He also owned a snack distribution company and a nuts and bolts company.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, darts, selling cars, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He was a loving, generous, supportive and feisty husband, father, grandpa and friend who will be missed by all who loved him. 

He is survived by his sister and best friend Mary Isham of Spokane, WA; brother Alfred Roy of Tyler, TX; step-brother Bob Burresse of Thompson Falls, MT; Aunt Alice Wilson of Walla Walla, Wash.;

Eight children and stepchildren Cindy (Mike) Gilbert of Spokane Valley, Wash., Tia (Jeff) Avery of Moyie Springs, Idaho, T.J. Roy of Boise, Idaho, Greg (Gerry) Rarrick of Colville, Wash., Diane Cady of Chewelah, Wash., Steve (Jayne) Rarrick of Topeka, Kan, Sue (Terry) Huggins of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Rhonda (Christian) Berge of Chewelah, Wash.; granddaughter Kortni Roy of Moyie Springs. 

He is survived by 21 additional grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren all of whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marie, step-father Benjamin Burresse, sister Joyce Greenup, sons Tim Cobb of Spokane, and Ty Jason Roy of Libby.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date to celebrate Tom’s life.
