The men’s varsity basketball team could not find the keys to beat St. Maries this past Saturday afternoon, losing their final IML league game 54-67.

The Badgers fought hard all the way through the first half, ending with a 34-31 lead going into halftime. Unfortunately, the Badgers hit a cold spell in the third period, allowing St. Maries to out score them 8-16 in the third.

St. Maries keep up the pressure and lengthen their lead in the fourth. The Badgers gave an extremely good effort, but just could not overcome the poor shooting in the third and a couple of tough calls, which resulted in the Badgers losing a bit of confidence, ultimately losing the game 54-67.

Coach Clint Arthur was happy with the team’s efforts, noting that the team had 16 assists with only 11 turnovers, something he says the team has been working on all season.

Mat Evans lead the Badgers with 14 points, while Aaron Moe and Alek Lopez each had five assists and Alex Mendez snagged five rebounds.
