The Bonners Ferry boys basketball  C team dropped the game to Lake City at home Monday with a score of 52 to 23.

Badgers Christian Trocke had 6 points, Noah Price 5, Connor Bennett had 3, Casey Smith, Dennis Schwartz, Kyler Rice and Nick Ray all had 2 points each and John Brown had a free throw.

“This was by far our toughest two game stretch of the season,” said Coach Paul Elston.  “However, the kids played by far their best quarter of the season in the first and they did it against a quality opponent who has a good program.”

On January 8, the Badgers C team played at home against Coeur d’ Alene and lost 56 to 15.

Scoring for the Badgers were Connor Bennett and John Brown with 5 points, Dennis Schwartz and Kody Rice had 2 points each.

“This was another game for Bonners Ferry against a 5A school,” Elston said. “Coeur d’ Alene has consistently had one the best basketball programs in the state and they are well coached. We struggled with their full court press and that led to our slow start. However, the team did not look at the score board and I was proud of the way they played hard for four quarters.”

In Troy on Jan. 6, the Badgers C team lost to Troy with a score of 42 to 34.

Badgers scoring came from Connor Bennett and Kyler Rice both with eight points, Nick Ray, Christian Trocke and Kody Rice all had four points each and Mat Kramer, John Brown, Jared Lynse and Allen Avery all had two points.

“We looked like a team that had not played in two weeks, said Elston.  “We were a little rusty to start with, but we got better during the second half. We need to translate the way we played in the third quarter to a whole game and then we will be better.”

The boys Badgers C team plays Troy again at 6 p.m., Thursday Jan. 20, at home.
